Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture attended 7th Baltic Agro Forum

The 7th Baltic Agro-Forum was held in Tartu, Estonia, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the country and the University of Social Sciences.

Leyla Mammadova, as the Director of State Agro Trade Company under the Ministry of Agriculture under the Republic of Azerbaijan, Namig Mammadov, as the Deputy Chairman of Agro Credit and Development Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Bahlul Salmanov as the Sector Head of Agro Service Agency and Royal Shirinov as a Unit Manager of State Agro Trade Company have represented Azerbaijan in this forum, along with representatives of relevant state agencies, agricultural producers, United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, Organization of E conomic Cooperation and Development and others.

The main theme of this year's Agroforum was the study of various practices in the field of food security, agro-ecology and development of organic production.  Various presentations have been made at the Forum about the relevance of this topic to the Sustainable Development Goals and the consideration of the experience of different countries in this area, the importance of proper research of the scientific and economic value of organic production.

The participants of the forum noted the importance of applying agro ecological principles, deepening of scientific research in the field of organic agriculture, intensification of work towards educating farmers, and the formation of a state-level policy on environmental protection.

Development of family farms and the organization of the awareness-raising activities and exchange of knowledge on the use and protection of their natural resources, enhancing research in this area and stimulating rapid application of its results in farms, promoting the production and sales of organic production were discussed in the forum.
