The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev and First Lady, Mehriban Aliyeva got acquainted with the activities of Scientific-Researches Institute of Fruit-growing and Tea-growing Research under the Ministry of Agriculture in Guba on October 11.
The President of Azerbaijan and First Lady were interested in the conditions created in the building of the institute of scientific research.
Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov stated that the Scientific-Researches Institute of Fruit-growing and Tea-growing Research began functioning in 1926 and had been located in Zardabi settlement of Guba region since 1964. The institute employs 59 people, there are scientists and professors among them. According to the decree of President Ilham Aliyev on strengthening the material-technical base of scientific-research institutions functioning in the system of the Ministry of Agriculture in 2015, the administrative-laboratory building of the Fruit and Tea-growing Institute of Scientific Research total area of 3504 square meters has been overhauled and utilities have been upgraded and auxiliary farms were built. The institute has been established laboratories for agroecology and analysis of soil, plant and water analyzes equipped with modern equipment and microclonal reproduction of plants at laboratories. A special greenhouse complex was built in the laboratories for purpose of the cultivation and adaptation of plant varieties.
There are 35 jobs for the employees at Scientific-Researches Institute of Fruit-growing and Tea-growing Research. There is Lankaran tea-growing branch on 73 hectares of field, Absheron experimental station on 19 hectares, Gabala region on 50 hectares, and Goychay settlement in 97 hectares. In addition, the Zagatala base station, Zardabi scientific experimental station and Guba auxiliary experience are included in the balance of the institute.
It was noted that the practice bases were created in the 50s of the last century. Their total land area is 662 hectares, of which 557 hectares are suitable for cultivation. There was established modern and productive fruit gardens on the 50 hectares area of Scientific-Researches Institute of Fruit-growing and Tea-growing Research where the main purposes are main objectives are to collect and store the gene pool of plants, to create more fruitful new fruit varieties, to develop new crop cultivation technology and provide scientific and technical support to farmers in 2017-2018. Scientific-Researches Institute of Fruit-growing and Tea-growing has wide coorperation with German Fruit and Vegetables Scientific-Researches Institute, Belarusian Research Institute of Fruit Research and Agriculture, Scientific Research Company "Meosis", Spanish “Viveros Veron” Research Company, China's Agro University, and French agro company called Luare.
President Ilham Aliyev was informed about the "Intelligent Garden Project", which is aimed at strengthening its export potential, sustainable development of horticulture, qualitative products and the developing into innovative farmers. There was talked about the “AqroUber” project, which aims to create a unified communications system that will link a single registrar, create a coordination of a farmer and a mechanics, to measure the level of professionalism and other performance indicators of the machines and their location throughout the country.
The President of Azerbaijan was informed about the activity of the newly established State Agro Trade Company, saying that more than 300 farmers' applications have been filed till today. The sale of more than 300 thousand kilograms of products was withdrawn from them. A memorandum has been signed recently in Cocuq Marcanli for the sale of 15 farmers' products.
The President of Azerbaijan was also informed about the project of "Kənddən Şəhərə”. It was noted that within the framework of the project it is planned to organize modern fairs, to set up retail centers, to create a mobile application for online booking. Implementation of the project will help farmers to solve the problem of direct access to the markets and the urban population will be able to access rural products in innovative ways at affordable prices. As part of the project, an Agrarian stock market will be established, which will unite both sellers and buyers of agricultural products on a single platform, and a price-database of agricultural products will be established.
